Investigation of Indicators of ILS and VOR On-Board Equipment

Michail Koplatyj

Abstract

ILS and VOR analogue and digital indicators are currently used in aircrafts. Analogue indicators are unreliable, take a lot of space, and also are not of high accuracy. Digital indicators are used in the big displays, the quality of which is not high, they use a considerable quantity of electrical power and take a lot of space. Therefore this work discusses the possibility to replace used monitors and analogue indicators with compact, economic, LCD displays with qualitative images. Analogue devices are not popular in our days. Analogue devices contain mechanical parts; this causes discrepancies for their operation and mechanical parts breakage. Their reliability decreases as the result of modern digital control systems. For transfer of such information an approach of usage of LCD displays where all signals are easily and accurately displayed was used.
