Comparison of Mechanical Properties of Different Glassfibre Reinforced Composite Materials Using Experimental Methods

Laurynas Mačiulis (Lithuania)

Abstract

The results of mechanical testing of different glassfibre reinforced composite materials are summarized. The tests were performed in VGTU laboratory for testing of materials and Central Aeronautical Research Institute of Italy, CIRA. The data acquired during the tests were used to determine the strain permitted and in order to select the proper materials for the calculation of the ultralight primary glider MS wing strength. The results could also be useful for students, engineers and aircraft homebuilders for their designs using respective materials.
