Ensurance of Flight Safety While Providing Air Traffic Control Services in Africa

Viktorija Riškutė

Abstract

After WWII the sky opened for commercial aviation. Increasing rate of living and economy allowed aviation to become one of the fastest growing industries. Light aircraft were interchanged with jet and turbopropeller aircraft, which are much faster. Due to the increase of air traffic rate the risk of crashes in the air increased as well. Air traffic control was established as a precaution to such events. In an overloaded air space the system maintains established distances between aircraft and protects from crashes. Flying is a result of technologies and human skills. Air Traffic Management (ATM) is processes: procedures and resources, which form a united system for the ensurance of safe movement of aircraft in the air and on-ground.
