Despite the fact that lightning strikes pose very little threat to contemporary commercial aircraft and lightning safety measures being used are quite effective, recently research began on new, more practical and advanced technology. statistics from Boeing and relevant information published in sae arp standards is presented in this article. The main objective is to familiarise with the effects of lightning strikes on aircraft, probable damage, safeguards in use, and to present recommendations for aircraft pilots and maintenance personnel.
