Development of Baltic Functional Airspace Block
Abstract
Nowadays, when air traffic flows are rapidly increasing, appropriate implements to control it are needed. In 1999 Eurocontrol started the development of project – Single European Sky, known under the abbreviation SES. According to this project, all Europe should be divided into functional airspace blocks. Lithuania and Poland were merged/connected to the Baltic FAB. On the 19th of November, 2012 Polish air traffic control company PANSA and Lithuanian State Enterprise “Oro navigacija” signed an agreement of “Collaborative Baltic FAB air navigation services”. This project should ensure the growth of air traffic control efficiency, create optimized routes, reduce delays, fuel consumptions and the emission of harmful particles.
